Financial Accountant

SF Recruitment is working with a fantastic organisation within the public sector who are seeking a Financial Accountant. The Financial Accountant to play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality statutory reporting, regulatory compliance, and robust financial controls. You will be a qualified qualified finance professional with strong technical knowledge across financial accounting, tax, VAT, and treasury.

Key tasks:

- Prepare year-end statutory accounts and coordinate the external audit process
- Produce and submit statutory and regulatory returns
- Manage and maintain the Assets and Liabilities Register
- Ensure timely and efficient month-end and year-end close processes
- Maintain robust financial controls and perform balance sheet reconciliations
- Oversee VAT and Corporation Tax compliance, including liaison with HMRC and external tax advisers
- Deliver high-quality financial reporting, KPIs, and analysis to colleagues, senior management, and committees
- Support Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reporting
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Financial Accounting Assistant
